The golden spice cultivated down-south of Tamilnadu in light black or red soil. The Erode local turmeric is slightly bent with a deep orange inner core, whereas the Salem local turmeric gives a mix of orange and yellow color. Rhizomes are more prominent, and the fingers are longer.
